#49's new powerplant has arrived, let the build begin

Well I tried to upload a bunch of pictures to update everyone. However, the files are too large. So I’m going to have to first upload them on my server and then manually add links. Check back tomorrow evening.

Redoing the fuse box. Wasn’t happy with it. Haltech ECU is installed under dash where the factory ECU was located. Have my power distribution sorted underneath as well with dedicated circuits for the Audi coils.

Once the fuse box is situated it should be ready to power up. Then I need to schedule a tune. The guy I’m using is quite busy, but he’s good.

This is coming in the next major version of Xenforo (2.3.x) - auto image resizing to fit server requirements and conversion to webp format. It has been in beta since January, but with regular updates. (Moving CEG off VBulletin was a pain but well worth it!)

I remember reading this thread 10 years (?) ago. I am glad you havnt given up on it with all the work you put into it.

Wow, I'm trying to get my 98 running again. I need to rebuild the engine harness. What gauge wire would I use?
Better late then never… the wire is dependent on the component requirement. There are various sizes used in the engine harness 20awg, 18awg, 16awg and 14awg to name a few. You really just need to measure it to determine what you need. You will find more issues residing with replacement terminals and connectors… not the wiring.

I finally pulled the harness. I can see now that there are a few different sizes. I already replaced the wires feeding the distribution block years ago. What I did there was cut the wire about 2-3inches from the terminal, then I solder in the new wire. I use heat shrink tubing to cover the exposed wire/solder connection. It's not the best solution, but I think it will work. Anything is better than all the exposed wires I have now.
