Water Pump Drive Pulley Removal

I looked but didn't see anything.

When it came to removing the water pump drive pulley I wasn't sure how I would do it. So I left it and moved onto other things. Yesterday I went out to work on removing the timing components and was looking at the water pump while the garage was warming up and it decided to try some nuts and washers with the same tool I used to remove the crank pulley.

This is how I did it in case anyone needs to, to either remove the cams or to replace the cam seal.

Good job. I sometimes see the factory recommended tool and think it will be the best and only way, but you got the job done.
I paid $30 at the machine shop to replace my cam seal when I had my heads checked out when I replaced my head gaskets. I had the same puller you used but didn't even think to try it.
I remember reading what a hard time "btrautman" had from his 2.5 rebuild in the old forums, trying this same task.

yeah, I feel the same way most of the time about the factory tools and will usually buy the factory tool, or one just like it, but I felt this would work just fine and it did. I figured if anything wanted to bend it would be the washers. Plus with the location of the screws it shouldn't want to rotate on the pulley. It took a little to get started but once it started to move it wasn't bad.

I picked up the tool for the crank pulley and figured it would work for the water pump as well since it showed it in the manual, not realizing the manual showed another tool as well. So as I went to do it I saw there weren't any threaded holes, thats when I looked closer at the manual and saw the adapter plate behind it.
