  • Lincoln LS turbo

If the 2000-2002 lincoln ls came in a 3.0L duratec v6 with a 5 speed and are rear wheel drive, why hasnt one been turboed like the svts have been. Wouldnt that be a more logical way to apply the power these motors can create when turbocharged? I did a quick forum search and found no topics about this. I can't be the first person to have thought of this.

    thoughts, opinions, suggestions?

Probably because the LS was a failure car and that's why Lincoln quit making it? People thinking the LS was such a great car makes me want to vomit. I know a guy who went through two of them before he finally got smart and bought something else...

Edit: It could also be because buying the V6 would have been a waste of money when you could mod the V8 and get more power even from stock.

(Horrible aftermarket wheels, but with a different set, it would be gorgeous.)

I've often wondered why someone hasn't tried to drop a Mustang (2005-2009 or so) drivetrain into one. Same platform, albeit with a lot of changes.

I like the look of the Lincoln LS. Never seemed like it was really on par with what a Lincoln should be in a way, but they have their good points. Though, a V6 LS is kinda a waste of time when you could just go with the baby V8, get a lot more power and a better starting point.

I am still considering getting one some time.

I can't comment on the feasibility, but there are 2 other things I'd point out.
            1. They didn't build that many of the 5-speed v6's. I searched all of craigslist for the US and found only a few.
            2. Lincoln LS(s) in my experience, are unreliable money pits.

Sad but true. A neighbor was selling a very clean LS a couple years ago and when I went to ask how much they kindly told me that it had problems and they wouldn't feel right selling it to a neighbor.

for some reason, i have a hard time believing this^^^. unless u're telling me that the LS cars are more unreliable than our contours. its a 3l duratec v6. how much worse than what we duratec owners are already experiencing could it be?

Read some of the reviews on Edmunds and Carpoint to give yourself an idea. For whatever reason the LS series had a gremlin like the Jag X-Type seems to.

I was once interested in the Lincolns but as most have noted here they're unreliable machines. Couple that with the Mercury Marauder and a Saleen-Bonspeed Thunderbird and I completely lost interest. Now where did I put my funds?? Oh yeah, that's right... friggin' Contour lol I'm sure there are more than a handful of 'charged LS's since you see Chevettes, Gremlins and Pintos with massive stroked V8s. There's always a few nuts out there with some good ideas.

i'm not a fan of these cars, and i have a friend who lives out of state, thats says he has one of these. all decked out, 6 speed manual....with over 500 hp. i don't believe it at all! did they ever make a manual transmission for these cars? any way he sent me a pic last year, i can't find it tho. it wouldn't matter anyway, he took a pic of only the rear and used his jacket to cover the license plate which basically covered the whole back of the car! hes not too bright.

To what I know, they only came in 5 speeds with a manual option, not a 6.

There is a guy in my area that has an LS with a custome exhaust and it sounds sweet. Its pretty awesome hearing the roar of a v8 comming from a sedan like that.

They had huge electrical issues with them. Kinda hard to run an engine when the wiring harness melts on you. The guy I know that had one brought his back to the stealership and asked if they had another one. They kindly told him not to bother as MANY of the LS' had similar electrical problems.. You be the judge?
