98's had problems with wiring harnesses and these contours sure like to rust too! if that hasn't been mentioned yet!
 
Might want to bring a scan tool and on the test drive monitor the oxygen sensor voltages, the bank 1 cat tends to go bad easy. Check to see all of the monitors are ready and running. Also heck stft and lft as well.
 
Thanks. I read somewhere that there can be throttle issues? The car won't be a daily driver so little issues aren't really a problem. The one I found on a lot recently did have a lot of rust, particularly the rocker panels.
 
Sometimes a malfunctioning Idle Air Control can cause the car to make a loud "moose" sound when warming up, and can also cause the throttle to idle high even when you don't have your foot on the gas. Search for "moose" or "throttle hang fix". Changing out the IAC is fairly easy.
