Shift Cable Pops off Shifter

I have been having an issue with the main shift cable popping off the ball below shifter. It appears that there is supposed to be a lock that pops in from the side to secure it. I think I found it but it is broken. It looks like a cup with 4 fingers, well mine only has 1 finger, the other 3 are broken. If so, does anyone know where I can get one.

pic? you should be able to find something at a hardware store. if its transmission side I know the parts to fix that. if its in the car/under shifter, I"d have to see it.
