I feel like if I want to keep my contour for very long I'll be relying on this forum a lot. Luckily got the CEL off long enough to get through emissions but it came right back (codes 0420 & 0430) so I'll be changing out the o2 sensors hoping I don't need new cats right now. Plus need new plugs and wires. Wish me luck!

How many miles on the motor? Does it burn an excessive amount of oil? O2 sensors are a good place to start. If you need cats, then you may want to look into the MIL eliminators and eventually gutting the precats. New cats don't seem cost effective to me when the whole car isn't worth much more.

And it can take almost a whole tank of gas (~200 miles) to get thru the entire drive cycle to clear the P1000 code for the check engine to fully clear.
