How do I use this? (trunk actuator/solenoid)

Can't figure out how to use one of these... I'm trying to add an electronic trunk actuator. Here's the actuator and parts:

In my trunk I have an extra wire attached to the trunk release. I'm guessing it's for what would be an actuator with keyless entry. My car didn't come with it, but I added it. Can I just attach this actuator to the cable next to the driver's seat? That way I could avoid running the wires all the way up to the keyless entry box.

(ignore my thumb, which I sliced pretty good on some part of the car)

So you don't have that already as an option?

Either way, give me a minute and I'll go out and get some pics for you.

OK, pics. They might be confusing at first but it is just as you'd be looking down on the actuatur and trunk catch.

The linkage goes in the top and runs towards the drivers side where the actuator will be mounted.

Emergency release is next in red and then on the bottom is the lock.

As for the wiring, I'm not sure what goes where.

Getting the actuator bolted in can be a little tricky as there is really no direct way to get at it. But I've done it a few times already and each has not been too much of a pain.

Two torx screws is where it mounts.

Ok, so I figured out that extra wire is what opens with the key. One wire is for the trunk release in the car, the second wire is for the key release; I thought they were one in the same.

So I'm still confused. How does that long metal rod I have attach? The end with the little hook goes into the latch. But how do I attach the rod to that white eye loop? Or does the hook end go through the white eye loop, then the rod runs down to the latch, and I screw that metal block on to secure it?

The end of the linkage with the flat end will go to the actuator in the white eye.

Hook up the actuator to the latch, drop it in then hook up the cables and wire, that should be the easiest IMO.
