  • Power steering fluid

My owner's manual for my 1998 Mystique says Mercon Power Steering fluid, E6AZ-19582-AA. Is that Type F ATF?

That is Mercon ATFluid or Dexron III ATFluid.

The ATFluid Type F equivalent to Ford Specs would be ESW-M2C33-F (as specified in the 1996 Contour Manual).

the 95s where speced for type F atf while later year cars where spec'd for dextron/mercron III fluid in the power steering.

in my 99 I used Mobil1 ATF when I had to refill it.

I found the info in my owners manual, if I remember the info correctly ... just go to wal-mart and get what you want ... using the turkey baster methode to change it I used less then a quart ...

when I openned up the power steering system on my 99 it didn't need a whole quart to fill it either.

You should be able to find Type F at Walmart or auto parts stores.

Ugg, after three days of changing it out after driving around some it is still coming out brown... I am going to have to buy another quart soon, LOL
