I figured I'd share my buddies car, it's an 05 sti. Car has every bolt on imaginable besides a bigger turbo. It's not painted, he wrapped it in matte black 3m vinyl. Car turned out quite well, the bumpers were a pita but all in all well worth saving a few grand on a paint job.

And here's a little video from the track not the best quality or best time, car is putting down 341whp with 391 tq, ran a 12.7 with a 1.70 60' foot I'm in the other lane in my little brothers mini

Wow, came out great. Very hard to believe that's a wrapped car. Well done!

oh my goodness that ish right there is of the chain. I'm on the band wagon and have never even been interested in the band wagon before lol. just found out what i'm going to do about the paint job i need. i'm going some where to get the dents fixed and then i'm all vinyl wrap from there

Vinyl wrap aint cheap either and imo looks like crap. I was at a shop that did vinyl wrap and they charged $4k to wrap a Yaris, and standing 10' away you could easily tell it was wrapped. I guess you can spend money on better wrap and it will look a little better, but why not do it right the first time and just use paint. Not to mention you still have to do body work before the wrap if you have dents etc.

Who says wrapping a car is the wrong way of doing things. Paint is the wrong way if you want to reverse what has been done. Is a wrap wrong for a fleet vehicle?

Forgot to mention that. Wraps are great for advertising and people looking for some crazy multi colored designs that are hard to paint and will hide bubbles and wrinkles. But if you want a solid clean looking color that is going to last and you dont have to get a soft sponge and bucket out to wash it everytime, stick with a paint job.

My bud got his wrap from http://autovinylsolutions.com/ This wrap isn't your typical plastic "eyelid" vinyl. The stuff actually breathes and is very pliable over any surface. His car has absolutely no bubbles or wrinkles. Shops do overcharge and don't do a very good job. We took off all the weather stripping/roof rails etc. An actual painter came up to him and asked where he had it done. If you have the time(40-60hours) and a decent body, it's an awesome way to go.
