Thread: NTK Oxygen Sensor

  1. Question NTK Oxygen Sensor

I'm replacing my upper oxygen sensors.

I purchased NTK 22060 sensors. However the connectors to the wiring harness are round instead of square.

Would cutting the wires and attaching the old connection to the new sensors be a good idea?

I'll take pics if need be. Thanks!

(Apologies Mods I accidentally tried to post this in the HOTO section)

IIRC, you can't cut and attach O2 sensor wires because they carry air through them don't they?

I'm pretty sure wires don't carry air

After a little more reading I just decided to splice the wires.

We'll see if it pays off shortly!

i think you got the wrong o2 sensor......theres a difference between upstream and downstream..... I'm not sure they'll work the same way......

That would totally suck. I'll look at the downstream connectors.

  7. Question

Yeap they gave me the downstream sensors... damn... just finished the one by the firewall...

Can anyone confirm the technical difference between the upper and lower O2 sensors, is there a difference besides the plug itself?

  9. Question

Gonna bump this and hope for a quick reply.

Besides the connection is there any difference between an upstream and downstream o2 sensor?

Old 02 sensors used to be vented through the wire harness. Crazy but true. This should not be an issue anymore. Splicing is fine but solder, don't crimp. You're dealing with very low voltages (0.1-0.9 Volts). Crimped connections can have enough resistance to cause problems at such a low voltage.
