I have a CEL that I got diagnosed from Auto Zone and the print out said-DPFE snsor upstream hose off or plugged- Ecm detected EGR flow in a negative direction with no EGR flow commanded- where do I start?

DPFE stands for Delta Pressure Feedback of EGR. Delta means change.

The sensor reads changes in the EGR. To find it, look just below the EGR vlave, against the rear head. It's held in by two bolts.

There are 2 hoses coming off the bottom that attach to the EGR pipe.

Here's a pic that might help you.

DPFE failure is common. It's located under the EGR valve on the drivers side. When changing out make sure, You put the small hose on the small nipple and the large on the large. It's not that to difficult to replace. If the curent DPFE has an aluminum body it's down level, and can almost guarantee it's failed. The replacement is black plastic.

DPFE ( differential pressure feedback sensor) outputs a voltage to the ECM based on the the proportion of pressure drop across the orfice in the EGR pipe. Hence the reason for two hoses going to the sensor. This in turn tells the ECM to apply a voltage to the electronic vacuum regulator which in turns open and closes the EGR valve at different rates as needed.

There is a good chance your Bank 1 (firewall) side or Main catalytic converter is plugged resulting in the hose coming off. Check that too.
