Yes, Julian (Bad SVT), did a swap in the smallest 1 car "garage" I have ever seen! He is one nuts fellow.

I would love to help if you grabbed me a plane ticket, but I don't put my name on a project I didn't do start to finish. Too many variables with what you have done to your motor already. Best of luck.

Ok finally got the car to my tiny garage. It's not as bad as I pictured but it's still not as much room as I should have. Also I was a complete idiot and managed to tip the motor over on the heads in the back of the truck. And I noticed that a lot of dust gathered inside the heads. I am going to thoroughly inspect the heads and remove cams and look at removing that broken bolt, after I pick up an engine stand, that is a must.

What can I do to get that dust and what not out of those heads? Maybe poor a couple gallons of oil through the motor?

how did dust get into the heads? there shouldnt be any in there. u're not talking about ur intakes are u? if u've got dust in ur heads, there's a considerable sized leak somewhere that must be sealed. NOT GOOD! Unless the upper intake wasnt covered up @ the R&R...

No the ports on the heads are fine, I stuffed cloth down there a long time ago. It's just when the motor was sitting in my old garage with the valve covers and timing cover off it gathered a little bit of dust on the top of the heads where the cams go.

Finally got my package from NPG. I didn't even order the y-pipe coated but it came with a coating on it that is horrible and already flaking off, I guess I will have to remove it somehow.

Right now I am working on getting the valve covers and timing cover cleaned up and then paint the valve covers silver. Once I get an engine stand I will remove that broken bolt and set the timing finally.

Is there a gasket for the timing cover and valve covers or do I just use that RTV sealant when installing those?

Also I bought engine assembly lubricant for installing the cams, is that the right stuff?

yes, there's a rubber gasket for the timing cover, valve cover, & sparkplug holes. and there are certain spots on the valvecover and timing cover that u dab some hightemp rtv. u'll see the spots when u take off the old ones. i personally used black rtv all across the perimeter. that way, there's no chance of a leak. and yes, the engine lubricant will work.

Kk now my question is where did you get the the rubber gaskets? I went to my parts store and they gave me the crank seal on the timing cover instead of the timing cover gasket. I will replace the crank seal as well, and rtv the valve covers and timing cover to be sure.

Since I have made myself wait until I get an engine stand to work on the 3L I started working on my headers tonight. I am putting down a layer of spray on ceramic coating that I have to bake on, seems like it is going to work very well. Then I will be putting two layers of header wrap on top of that. I got one of them finished tonight, the next one will be done by tomorrow. I will post pics when they are done.

well, u simply ask them for the gaskets u want. and u can get them at autozone or the dealership. there's little or no difference pricewise anywhere u get them.

Well yea thats what I did, I was a little confused because my local parts store gave me the timing cover crank seal saying that it was the entire timing cover seal? Anyways I got it now, I will be calling steve at Tousley tomorrow since I'm sure it will be cheapest there.

Also how hard is it to install some clevite 77 rod bearings? Depending on how easy it is I might be going with these rod bearings and the escape oil pan. Just don't want to take the oil pan off and find out I can't do it myself.

Also here some pics of the one header I got done.
Ceramic coating:

Finished with header wrap:
