Gas Guage

My gas guage has stopped working...

It will go to Full when i fill up but then it will do its own thing when im driving either go all the way to Empty in like 50 miles or stay above 1/2 tank when i have little to no gas left... Is this self-repairable what do i have to do???

My guess would be the sending unit, which I believe is attached to the Fuel pump. So a new fuel pump might be in order.

Its also possible the gauge itself is broken, but thats a lot less common then sending unit failure. Do you have any check engine lights? What year/model do you have?
