where to get new strut bolt

I'm looking for a new bolt that clamps the strut at the bottom of the front suspension. It is an 18mm and I got the bolt out but it started to round so I'd like to replace it. Can I replace it with a bolt from the hardware store or should it be a OEM bolt?

I would say any grade 8 bolt of the same size would work.

i suggest going OEM only for this item. the bolt needs to be a specific grade, etc to be used in the suspension. a hardware store bolt is never going to cut it.

why are you replacing the pinch bolt for the strut? those normally get used over.

It was beginning to round off when he removed it.

I also agree with using an OEM bolt. They are custom designed and built for the suspension and of a high quality steel. No standard bolt will match all the design requirements.

I'm not using any parts from stock suspension on my project. If you identify the bolt clearly for me, I'll give you mine. It should still be in my "unused parts" pile.
