2.5 auto vs 93 civic

[96 GL Purple(ish)]

My friend might be buying this 93 civic and thinks it could take the contour in a strait line, is he nuts or am I about to get embarrassed? My only concern is that his is a manual where as mine is an auto. The civic is completely stock, NA, but it has that VTEC that I know nothing about. the thing felt fast when we test drove it today...
If this goes down I will post results.

I have a 97 1.6L non-vtec 5spd 4 door........it is SLOW! I have to down shift to 3rd on the highway to pass somebody :blackeye:
Also, there is a huge hill by my house the honda has to be in 3rd to get up it. In the SVT I get up it in 5th.
I would say you take him, unless it has some kind of motor swap. My buddies 94 hatchback with the b16 swap would scream once the vtec kicked in.
