I just bought a mystique with 70k on it. Here is what i know

Getting fuel
No missing teeth on timing belt.
Sound like its firing out the intake. (sounds like cam timing is out)
compression cyl 1 - 180 cyl 2 - 0 cyl 3 -180 cyl 4- 0
Spark is good.


I check the timing marks all looks good.

Should I redo cam timing?, or is this motor toast?


Just trying to get some thoughts, if my mind is missing something.(before I go tear it apart)

Just inspected it more. Two of the lifters are stuck open. And they looked chewed up??? So the head is def toast. I wonder if it destroyed the whole motor? When I turn the motor over. The exhaust cam is oiling good. And the intake side is a little oiled, not as much as the exhaust is this normal?
 
What year is it? MTX or ATX?

It sounds like someone either over revved it or ran it out of oil. Pull the cam caps and see if they are scored. That will tell you if it ran low or out of oil.

If it's a pre-98, you have hyrdaulic lifters. If it ran low on oil, they wouldn't fill properly and the cam would hammer the crap out of them.
