Awd Csvt

Probably the awd drivetrain thats used over in Europe. No there is no other awd contour. As close as you can get is a mondeo or a jaguar x-type.

There was a production Mondeo with AWD, but it was available for only one or two years IIRC. Very few out there. I don't think they match up to the V-6 either.

Your best bet to investigate AWD & V-6 in the states would be the Escape AWD system. Even then, I don't know if you could make it work...

Here's one on UK eBay advertised for parts:

Yeah, it's a 4 banger.

That'd be sweet to get a 3L AWD 2007 Fusion SEL setup and stuff it into a contour. To do a complete swap like that would be hard but I'm sure it'd be worth it if you could get the AWD setup off a totalled fusion.

why stop at the 3.0? the lincon has a 3.5 with AWD i think that would be much better and with turbo goodness the fun would be endless...till you ran out of money for tires...

Awright, now. I throw the flag for piling on.

I've actually given this project some thought in the past. There may be a way to adapt a Jag X-Type rear subframe, diff, hubs, fuel tank to replace the 'Tour stuff. Then a 2005 Escape engine/tranny combo. I don't know what axels/hubs/wheels would fit up front - that's the big problem. The Jag stuff is way different, subframe & all. If the Jag axel would fit in the 'Tour hub, we could have a 5 bolt setup all around, otherwise you'd end up with the 4 bolt stuff up front and 5 bolt in back - goofy.

Another BIG problem would be the AWD adaptation. It's electronically controlled in the Escape tranny/pcm. You'd have to figure some way to permanently hardwire the AWD system "ON", or add an 'on demand' switch that the driver could trip. Hell, I don't even know if the tranny would even function with the electronics available in a 'Tour. There's lotsa figurin' that has to go into a project like this. If the electronics for for the tranny are not compatible, then you've got some serious programming/wiring problems to tackle.

why even stop at a 3.5 liter.... man i bet we can get a 5 liter in there... awd and everything... i bet jamesmason could do it

I wouldn't waste my time with a measly 5L 302, I'd just go all out with the 6.8L V10 that's in my truck. now that would be worth it just to see it stuffed in there. lol

It would be good for a rear wheel drive setup but the sheer size of that Triton V10 is to much to contain in a contour, you'd have to literally fab the front end and swap almost all of the electronics sensors. For example look at what they had to do to get the 5L V8 in the focus RS8, the fabbing and drive shaft position. the car took on a lambo gallardo and won overall but it costed a staggering 115K. this amount of money I just wouldn't spend on a contour. and it'd probably be worse with the v10.

there never was a svt awd contour ever. I believe that the awd was only offered with the 4 cyl. correct me if i'm wrong.
