Sorry, just had to make a useless thread. I was out driving around and cars were getting stuck left and right. The Blizzaks just tore right through it. Even starting on hills, no hesitation. woot woot!!

my blizzaks are working awesome right now too! but its raining here, haha

Yeah, it's pretty bad here. Pictures wouldn't show much, because it's not snow. It's just been straight sleet since midnight.

my snows work well this morning also, alittle slipping taking off from a stop and of course when I wanted them to

I'm sure the torsen helped out and made it fun also ...

I had fun driving home in the truck.
I'll have to ask Mike if he had fun in the GL when he gets home.
Blizzaks definitely own.

all seasons w/ 15k on them FTW! err...i guess not really. I did get to go into work today at around 11. Man that was a fun drive on 84. No cars, no visible lanes and small amounts of drifting to make me happy. By small I mean I would point like 2 degrees to the side, yell woohoo, and then immediately straighten myself out.

I didn't put my snows on this year.

On that note, actually ... my beater rims are pretty badly corroded since I didn't wash last year's salt off of them (and all the paint flaked off) .. are they still safe to use?

matt, this things you say about your car, it seems as if you just dont care about it :help:

lol. They're beater rims, I don't care about them. They look terrible to begin with, the paint was flaked off when I bought the car. I had a brain fart and didn't wash them when I put them away.

As for putting snows on, I didn't need to this year since I don't need to drive it in inclement weather (and they're crazy noisy at 70mph). My intention was to ditch the beater rims and put the snows on steelies but that didn't happen. Just wondering if corrosion on alloys sacrifices the structural integrity of the rim. I'll bring one to the next meet if I remember to show their condition.

hotdimmes .. my car has so-called "all seasons" on it right now. The previous owner was so disgusted with their performance on wet pavement that he went and got the snow tires. I'm equally disgusted, they do a really good job of compromising both dry-weather performance and wet-weather safety. Going to replace them in a month or so (since they're getting old) with something better.

Driving was a blast. I drove the Volvo 240 with 4 metal studded snow tires, i tell you that thing is a beastly tank, there was no stopping me, normaly im scared sh*tless driving the contour in the snow.

Matt

had no problems today with snows on the back of the vic.
except one hill near my house, for some reason i think the traction control is fugged up and under normal driving conditions it doesnt do anything, but once the tires start spinning it causes the motor to cut out.
sucked, got stuck on the hill for a few minutes.

isnt that part of traction control on those? cut power to the engine? i could be horribly wrong

my yokohama avid H4S's were pretty decent, although it's my first car and first set of tires, and first time snow storm commuting, so I don't really have much to compare it to. I didn't die i guess  so they couldnt have been that bad.

not sure on the vic but in the pre98 contour the tc was mechanical and it pushes back on the gas pedal, on the post 98 models it just he ignition ... both us the brakes also to control wheel spin ...

i like mine, I know when it will kick in, but it can also stall the car if I am not careful ...

yup, but my system is fugged up telling me the trac control is always off, but yesterday it decided to work.
fugger!
i can understand cutting a little of the power, but making it so i cant move the car at all...thats a little ridiculous!

The Michelin Pilots on the Milan did ok unless there was more than 4-5 inches. Then they struggled.

I just had the most uncomfortable ride into work. There is uneven ice buildup in my wheels and it threw the balance WAY off. The car was bouncing like a cheap whore doing a lap dance. Anyways, guess I'll be going to a self clean car wash at lunchtime to clean off those wheels.

I took the Explorer into work yestersday, but I have tested the Blizzaks on the Saab before, and drove it today. Those in combo with the traction control make it almost impossible to break loose.

the gli does that when the traction control is on, it totally cuts power to the engine and has the abs kick it...IMO its an expensive useless option if you know how to drive
