Help me decide between these.

Need new all season tires in a bit. Looking at discount tire direct, these are what I've narrowed it down to. I drive hard, so grip is important, both wet and dry. Treadwear also is a big factor. If you have experience with any of these, please chime in. I have run the Falken's, but none of the others. I did like the Falken's, but if the cheaper one's are good, I wouldn't mind switching. BTW, they will be 225/50/16's.

Kumho AST, treadwear: 400, price $67

Kumho ASX, treadwear 420, price $74

Hankook Radial K106, treadwear 340, price $67

Hankook Ventus HRII H405, treadwear 340, price $67

Falken Ziex ZE512, treadwear 360, price $73.

Thanks for any input.
 
I really can not help on any of those tires since I have never driven on all seasons. I can recommend the Khumo SPT. I would also take the treadwear ratings with a grain of salt. Each manufacturer rates their own tire and the rating between each brand will be somewhat different. I personally do not expect tires to last more than two years. When I was younger I was lucky for them to last 12 months.

Haha. Goodyears are so overpriced. He can go through a few sets of another (grippier) tire than the response edges for the same price.

Out of those tires listed, I'd get the ziex 512s. But really all depends on what you're looking for out of a tire.

I'd go with the 512's as well. Seeing as how BigBen is referring to his FIRST car, I doubt he could comment on too many different sets of tires. The 512's are really grippy in the straight line, not too shabby in the cornering, but have a softer sidewall. Not much road noise, and comfortable. Not to mention, they're inexpensive!

My only gripe w/ the Falken's was that they didn't last too long, but that was prob. an alignment issue. Have replaced LCA's since then. Lookin' like Falken's FTW! Thanks guys.
 
Scott I put a set of the Hankook Radial K106 on back in Nov. and I have been pretty happy with them. The only downfall I have noticed is that they are not so good in the snow, but then again I probibly wouldn't have this problem if I would go and put my snow tires on.:troutslap:
 
Although I cant say from true experience yet...but I got the Falkens for summer...before I noticed they were all seasons.

I was looking a tread pattern when I got them.

I second dedicated snows. I'm running Perrelli Winter Carvers and can tell you they are a great tire!
 
I have Kumho ASX on my car and I'm happy with them, although I've never had really expensive tires so I can't make a comparison.

Kumho ASX, treadwear 420, price $74

According to the people I've talked to, they're not a bad tire for the money. If you can afford an extra $15 a tire, Avon Tech M550 are what I'm riding on now. I got them for less, but that's what Tirerack is selling them for these days. Good ride, adequate performance.

I like something more grippy, so I'll be going back to summer tires, I think.

Why not? They last twice as long when you only use them half the year. I don't recommend all-seasons for anyone, especially in PA. Any all-season that's okay in the snow is going to be awful in the dry or just expensive.

I've got the ASX's on my 15's. Got 'em when they had a rebate on them a while back. So far im pretty happy with them. Wet and dry traction are very good. Snow traction is decent, deep snow is so-so. But wet and dry they grab better than the summer tires on my 17's...
 
For another point, I've got the Kumho ASX on my Cobra in 275/40/17 and they aren't bad. Not fantastic, but they do a decent job in pretty much all conditions so far. I got them because I was going to be driving the cobra through the winter, and haven't spun it in the ice and snow yet . . . (ask todras, five-oh, and steeda how they do on ice, lol)
 
I decided that i had enough with all seasons and just ordered BFG G-Force KDW's. Looks like i'll be shopping for winter wheels and tires sometime in september.

I found a good all season when i was shopping for tires but i see that you found one already
