My 98 CSVT motor is 99.9% pronounced shot by my mechanic today.. the thing has only got 69,689 miles on it. I got it at 59,000. I was on my way home from school, and i remember down shifting to 4th, and then i heard this rattle in the motor, like a bunch of wrenches or something banging around in there. So i go immediately go to my mechanic, and he said he heard me pulling in, and said motor is problably shot. He's gonna strip it tomorrow to make sure it's not fixable.. but has anyone ever heard of this happenening on a CSVT?

same thing happened to my motor same way too. but mine had 59k. mine was the rod bearing closest to the drivers side

haha, yes sir it is 3L time :). im checking out this website: http://www.3lduratec.com/engines.html
but whats the difference between the "Full 3L" and the "Ported 3L"? the Ported 3L is more expensive, but i can't figure out why. I've read what it said a few times.. but idk its 12:30am and the only thing my brain is registering are the 120 vocab words i needa know for tomorrow. anway, is this something my local mechanic can do, or am i going to have to take it else where..?

The full 3L uses the 3L block, 3L oval port heads, and 3L plastic intake manifolds. The other 3L they offer uses the 3L block with 2.5 heads and you install your SVT intake manifolds on it to keep it looking stock. :) If you buy an engine from that site, you can have any mechanic install it.

Please check the oil level and consistency before draining the engine, and post, for our future reference. Thanks.
