If they total out, you still have the option to buy it back from them. Buy it back, and fix it yourself.

doesn't look like alot of damage to me, but having just had a tiny scratch on my wife's car repaired at the cost of $700 I couldn't even imagine the cost of this repair given that both doors would have to be repainted/worked on and also the rear quater panel...and while I think they could fix the rear door I wonder if they would just opt to replace it?

Let me know if you guys need better pics

Totaled??? FOR THAT?

I think not my friend, it will get apraised at about 1500 to get repaired. And a CSVT is obviously worth more then 1500. I would say get the check written to you, and call up the dude above and buy 2 doors off of him. The scratch in the fender near the wheel can easily be buffed out, and I bet you wont even notice the dent.

If it is $1,500 then that would be ok, I checked the value of the car and I came up with $5,500, figured if it (the damage) came to more than $2,500 then it would get totalled...and the thing on the quarter isn't a scratch but a continuation of the dent...the drivers door was scratched.

Well, my E0 got totaled for this...

Hood was dented and windshield was smashed too...

Well the outcome is that it was just over 2,000 in damage as there was also some slight damage to the front fender as well...has been in the shop now for about a week going on two...hopefully everything comes out ok.

Yeah I was going to say, that should not be totalled! I have a 2000 CSVT with 100K miles on it, I hit 3 deer going 70 MPH and had 4400$ in damage and it did not get totalled. Hope it all comes out ok!!
Post pics when you get it back

Yeah, I'll have to agree w/ ya Kristen!!!! I was in an accident in August, where the lady hit me directly on the drivers side door and front fender. She bent the a-frame behind the fender and was very close to the windshield. Mine was estimated at $3400 and wasn't totalled!!! Although it should've been, b/c now the car just isn't the same :(

I guess some insurance companies are different than others? Probably depends on what state you're in, too.

you said yourself that you had several body panels that needed repair.

for just the door, you should expect to get 12-1500 bucks.

I speak from experience when i say you should take the check and get an entirely new door - or push for them to replace the door for you. Where that dent is, in the "body line" that's in the door - they'll never get that straight again. never. and it'll drive you crazy.

replacing the door skin is another option, but again i don't trust body shops.

Same thing happened to my brother over winter. The hit and run agency or whatever practically ignored him. Good to know how great things are over here. Last time a guy totalled my brothers Civic SI, the car was stolen and the guy fleed. Guess what, cops did nothing

My bro knows not to even ask insurance to fix it. Stupid contours :nonono:

An important thing that Glenn (Pen Two) left out of his story was the fact that he was run off the road and into a guardrail by an a-hole driver (who didn't stop , BTW  ) while he was on his way to a local CEG meet :( ! It's a crying shame ...
