This weekend, I changed my plugs and wires and all I can say is WOW! The old plugs were pretty shot, checked the gap on one at about 0.07". I would guess that this is the first time the plugs have been changed in 110k miles (I bought it with 85k on the clock last August).
Put in NGK Laser Iridiums and Taylor Cable 8.2mm wires. Also did Big Jims intake and throttle body clean before hand.
As soon as I turned the car over after the switch I could hear the difference and it runs so much smoother. Hoping it improves the fuel economy some as well. I have been running around 21-23 MPG.
Just thought I'd share the stoke.

Whats the part number on the Taylor wires... I've been thinking about getting those. I need new wires. Also if you have a price and where you got them that would be cool too. Thanks.

I got them from Autoparts Warehouse. They were cheaper from Summit, but since they were out of stock I called APW and they agreed to price match. I think the part # is 82607 for the V6 duratec. Thats for the "Thundervolt" cables in Blue. If you search for Taylor cable on summit you can see all the different colours/sizes etc. Heres the link at APW

Edit: Cost me less than $60 including shipping

You put the (sometimes) in the wrong place.. it should have been next to "FMS" and not Magnecor...

anything on the Taylor wires Ray? I know Accel has wires for them as well. However I ran Taylor wires with my Camaro and was very pleased. I'm just not sure on the Taylor wires for the Contour because of the unique coil pack plugs with the snaps.

I had no problems with the coil pack. All the connectors looked identical to the stock wires. I had one wire which I could not get that satisfying "snap" onto the spark plug, but its running good, so I think its still got good contact.

Mine fit fine, a bit snug to get on though.
I've had mine on for a year now with no issues what so ever. "Digital Slacker" has had his for a bit longer than I have and he's had no issues either. HTH.

I run bosche stock replacements and have no trouble at all. And i'm turbo! I also run $2 NGK Copper plugs. I refuse to spend that kind of money on spark plugs. But thats just me.

I spoke with customer service at Taylor Vertex and they suggested using their ThunderVolt 8.2mm plug wires. They say they work very well in low displacement high reving engines over the Spiro-Pro plug wire line. SO I ordered a set from Summit Racing today, but it's not in stock so it won't ship till Sept. 30th :(

Nice, I got the thundervolts and have been impressed (for what its worth).
Now I just need to get over the extra performance and drive this puppy below the redline for a tank of gas and see if I got any milage improvement. The last 2 tanks have been about the same or less than before the change, but I put that down to driving like a goose.
