I'm back on the road too!

My transmission had a grinding 2nd and a burnt up clutch...took it apart last July. It took some time to get transmission parts, and I had to fit it in with all of the other frankenstein projects I have going. Saturday morning at approx 6:00am I went for a test drive and all went well!

A friend and I rebuilt the trans ourselves. TH did it the first time, but I couldn't afford to ship it back to him. It has many new parts, including synchros, blockers and updated shift forks. I already had a Quaife and the updated shift tower. Filled it up with RP Synchromax and it shifts like butter! Top that off with a SPEC Stage 1 and that's it!

I'm currently down in Portland, but driving back to Oak Harbor this evening. I have an alignment appt at Firestone this afternoon, so it'll be nice and straight for the drive home. Can't wait to bolt up the Pole Positions!

Do we have a meet planned for the spring? IT'S HERE ALREADY!! I really want to see Bugz 3L...congrats on that! I'm at 135,000 so I may be looking at that option in the near future.

Good to be back. See you all soon.

Mike

Yes, there is definitely some track time in the cards. When does the season start? When's the next meet?! I haven't seen you guys in forever.

Beowulf, are you still in the area? Tim and I definitely could fix up your tranny. For mine we sourced the parts from Bill Jenkins. Tim has a hard core press where he works, so the rebuild was pretty easy. I think he honestly spent about 30 minutes to an hour of actual work to do the rebuild. It's incredibly simple inside there. The biggest obstacle was actually getting the parts. Some of them are not readily available if you know what I mean. I was being picky though...I bought all of the upgraded parts. I think Bill said that the 2nd gear synchro was a Jaguar part. It certainly works, so I'm not complaining!

I'm looking at a DMD upgrade soon. My front seal is leaking, so it's the perfect excuse! I'm currently at 135,xxx miles. I hope it lasts!

yep, I am still here, still trying to get **** together to move to where my son is.

140k and I have to be careful shiftign into second or it grinds. I also think the clutch is slipping some.

How much were the parts for your rebuild?

Well, it's hard to say what it actually costs. I bought a LOT of parts without first tearing down and taking inventory. Once we did that, I had to buy more parts, but I have a pile of parts to send back. It was probably $300-$400. I replaced most synchros and blockers, bearings, seals and one of the gears. Bill Jenkins really hooked me up.

The cost for these parts will totally depend on what's torn up. I replaced anything that showed ANY wear.

The clutch (Spec Stage 1) was just over $300 shipped from SVTCuervo. That comes with a new release bearing assy. That's a steal! It's really a kick ash clutch too...grabs hard!

I spoke with Tim (who helped with mine) and I can offer you this: We'll do the whole job for $500 labor plus parts. That's removal of the trans, full on rebuild, and installation. The only thing you'll need when we're done is an alignment, which I can arrange for locally if necessary. Let me know if that's something you're interested in.

Why would you need an alignment?

Good to here you got your car running again.
