Never put on a set of headers before but I plan on taking on the task with another friend next weekend. The car already has the WR Y-pipe on there, so what else do I need to buy?

edit: Sorry, I couldn't find my other post and it was like 2 threads down. Lock the the other one if you want.

Plenty of extensions, a metric deep socket set, a u-joint, metric box end wrenches(ratcheting swivel head are ideal), pb blaster and a box of band-aids should cover it.

Rofl, I have all the extensions and sockets anyone could need between me, my uncle, my friend, and his uncle. lol. For some reason I'm so worried about breaking one of the studs. Is this a common problem? Car has 103k miles on it. Should I drive it around for 5-10 minutes and use an impact to get them off?

You won't break them. You'll round the nuts off if you're not straight on and use too much force. A 1/2" is a hair smaller than the 13mm and can help in some areas.

Also helps if you dont need to drive the car for a day or two prior to working on it so you can soak the bolts with some penetrating oil every couple hours.

And don't use WD-40....remember WD stands for water displacement. Get liquid wrench or power blaster. And use lots and lots and lots of it. Get a nice pool of it developing under the car.

A 13 MM is the correct size for the nuts right? I can get free Penetrating oil so I guess thats what I'll use on them. I drive my car daily, but I can spray'em down as we work on my friends truck first.

I don't have a gasket with my headers , Iguess I should go to the part store and get an exhaust manifold gasket set for this install?

When I had my headers done, I ordered brand new OEM manifold gaskets along with brand new studs because I knew the ones I had on were just crap and all busted with age..sure enough they were..so that might be something worth considering as well

Got everything but the 5/8 compression fitting. Looking at the modified egr tube next to the other one, whats the difference? Does it just angle a little differently to the port on the header or what?

the best penetrator is PB brand, use plenty of it and never forget how valuable a good breaker bar can be! leverage is a good thing
