I just snapped a couple pics of my newly painted grille. I decided to just go all black at first, just to see what it looks like in person.

Although I like the all black much better than the stock chrome look, I still might do the outter ring and logo in body color tan.

What do you guys think?
Yes, I know, the headlights need to be done. That's next on my list along with removing molding and badging.

too much black....needs the chrome ring in my opinion.

i have considered doing something similar to my '98, only more like the grill on the lincoln ls- chrome across the top, rest black.

what did you use to do yours?

Yeah i don't really like it. Its too much black. maybe if you would have left the mercury symbol chrome, it wouldn't look too bad..but i think you should paint the outside ring body color.

Sorry for the delayed post but I haven't been online in about a week.

I used Plasti Kote gloss black spray paint and clear coat to do the grille.

After about a day of letting the black grille look sink in, I decided to change it right away.

I used tan on the outer ring and did the logo in a combo of black and tan.
I really love this look!
Now what do you think of my grille?

Looks lots better than all black, definately. How 'bout if you painted the outer strip chrome, the logo interior body color or chrome, and left the fins in the grill black...?

needs to be body color. i think it looks like you just took your grill out..

Honestly I just dont like the mystique grill at all. The chrome color was flaking/rubbing off and looked shabby. I pulled it out and cut it up a little . Plan on mounting a new one back in there and sell the car. Maybe. Its my daughters car and shes away at College till whenever. Just pulled it out of the garage to let it breath alittle. Sorry for hijacking this thread.

Yea that fake chrome really sucks. That's exactly the reason I wanted to paint it. Plus, chrome on my tan body color really looks like crap in my opinion.
