yesterday my tire was flat, so I went to my local shop and they told me the tire was shot. Anywho, since I am selling the car I didn't want to put a brand new tire on to it. And since they were also blizzaks they didn't have anyother ones. Sooooo, we called around and found two used tires that were basically brand new for $70 total. they were the same size as the blizzaks on the car, 185/65/15 (I think). Now since I had another set of tires at home on the same type of stock 95 SE rims and I didn't want the blizzaks on the road for spring/summer use I was going to throw those on the car as well. (I know I know, shouldn't mix and match tires but I figured it would have the two of one type up front and two of another type in the rear). But I looked and saw the tire size on the other set of rims was 205/60/15. Would this be a bad idea to throw those on? and how can two different sized tires fit on the same sized rim?

Well to answer your question every tire has a rim width range that it can fit on. You can go to
www.1010tires.com and you can compare different tire sizes to see the impact that it has on your speedometer etc.
They say that you shouldn't go with a tire that is greater than a 3% difference from the stock tire diameter.

My car came with 215/45/16R (even though they were supposed to come with 215/50/16R) I run 225/50/16R I like the way the wider tire handles. Different tire sizes will throw off your speedometer slightly also.

I cannot give you any advice on running 2 different size tires at the same time. All I can say is I know there are sporty coupes that run larger rims in the back than in the front.

I personally like to have all 4 the same tires around. But have no knowledge as to how this will interfere with handling.

Additionally, the difference between your tire width is less than an inch...

Rim width range for your 185's is 5.5-6.5"
where the range for your 205's is 5.5-8"

So there is overlap and as long as your rims are between 5.5" and 6.5" both tires should be able to fit on them
