Bad Rocker Arm?

Well what I thought was a bad water pump bearing turned out not to be. My friend who works on Mercedes stethed the engine and the sound is coming from the front head bank. It is a clicky-clacky sound and it increases with rpm and sometimes goes away and then returns. We are speculating that it is a cracked rocker arm that is moving around slightly. Any one want to opine?

What is the ball park figure to fix something like this?

If I want to do a DIY on this using my friend's help what kind of equipment do you suggest I need to work on the car in my garage?

TIA,
Dan

if it really is just a roller finger follower thats bad, all you need for special tools is a valve spring compressor. And even that you can work around if you're really careful

So the cam shaft doesn't need to be removed? Just compress valve and replace rocker/roller?

Thx,
EB
