Ok I tore my front bumper the other day backing out of my wifes grandma's driveway. It tore about an 8 inch spot from the bottom and it curves right by the fog and almost to the lower mesh. Should I buy a used bumper from clasifieds of I can find one? Then I have to worry about paint etc.... Or do I just pay my $500 deductable for my insurance and let the body shop fool with it? Are there any svt fronts new still around? This one might be fixable but I'd rather replace it.

"Do I use the insurance that I pay for?" That is a question that we all have to answer at sometime.
As for myself being an old guy and having stumbled through situations like this, IMHO the answer is go buy a used one and get it painted to match, or check with a body shop and see if yours can be repaired. Offer to remove it yourself to cut down on cost a bit.
The break down:
you do it
Used cover $500 - $700
Paint $ 300
total $800 - $1k
or
Repair cover $400
Paint $300
total $700 +/-
Insurance
you pay $500
they fix
your rate increases $600 / yr x 3yrs = $1800
You loose $1600 - $1k more than if you had paid for the repairs yourself.
Bottom line is the insurance company is not going to loose money and if they have to pay you can bet you will have to pay, so you might as well pay up front and keep your record clean since it will save you money in the long run. Now if you have a lousy driving record and jacked up rates due to accidents or tickets already if you make another claim they may just cancile you and then the next company will stick it to you.

BTW nice Tour, what is that thing on your rear window and what does it do?
It is a rear window spoiler off of a mondeo. It was ordered from australia. Basically asthetic don't think it has a benefit really other than the look. Thanks for the compliment. She looks alot different from the car domain page now though I need to update it

He goes in easy, but gettin out is at his discretion..... I and my wife just have the privilege to drive him around in his Tour.

If you do decide to sell it, consider this me calling dibs, pending pricing of course! The only SVT front I have is likely in worse shape than yours. It has a couple of tears and dents, as well as cracked and spidered paint.
