Ok here's the deal. Had my 2000 svt contour for 2 years, havent touched it other than maintenance, all stock down to the air filter. lately its been a little weak in a few different ways. I've organized a list of whats wrong with it and what id like to do with it. I like the car, even though id probably sell it if it was in better condition, but i think ill keep it and just modify it. I want to keep the duratec 2.5, ill move to a 3l later. I know basically what needs to be fixed, but I may be forgetting details.

Problems:
1) When i come to a stop, the car will want to stall about 50% of the time. Stalls sometimes when i brake for a corner!not cool! if i have the opportunity, which i usually do, I can rev up the engine and that will usually keep it from stalling. CEL is NOT on, and hasnt been for months. It was on previously, about 6-7 months back, but is not anymore. Ive taken it to Ford, and several private repair shops, apparently they can't find what is wrong. Ive replaced intake manifold gaskets two or three times already, problem is still there.

2) Rear sway bar/Suspension. - Around right corners (sometimes left), I can hear kind of a buckling noise coming from the suspension. Sounds resembles scraping metal (go figure). As far as I know, sway bar disconnects from mount and/or the whole strut is loose. Have had tightened and welded several times now, by more than one welder. New sway bar? 21mm + reweld? I'm planning on totally redoing my suspension.

3) Recently Ive been noticing a chattering sound coming from what I think is the clutch/flywheel. Its very amplified where there is an echo, and even when I'm just next to a car. All anyone can say to me is "that doesnt sound good." Clutch has slipped before, nothing extreme, but doesnt slip often as of yet. If it is the clutch is there anything I could do to help this instead of replacing everything? Or if I have to replace it, should I upgrade it as well?

4) Fog lights dont work. Fuse appears to be fine. Any suggestions as to what this could be?

If you've been patient and read my laundry list of problems i'm very thankful. Any suggestions to anyone of these problems is very much appreciated. I know that once i start modifying my car and keeping it healthy, ill want to continue to do so. In CA.

fog lights worked once a long time ago..I had the light switch pulled out for a few days and then after that they didnt work. Ill go double check the switch again just to make sure im not tripping myself out but im 95% sure ive been looking at the right fuse and it appears to be ok.

90k miles on the clutch along with every other part... :\ . would an upgrade be a good idea, if im planning on giving it a little more power in the future? or would i be getting ahead of myself

it seems as tho you just managed to break a connection somewhere, or created a short... just check the wiring, as much of a PITA as that is. or u can just rewire them LOL

meh, thats a decent amount of miles on the clutch, depending on how the car has been driven. it would be a good idea to replace it. cant hurt right?

what would be the best to get? im looking for good daily-driveability but also something that will be able to handle some power. Been looking at spec stage2 clutch/flywheel...? wise replacement for when i need a new clutch?

I, personally, would avoid the stage 2. Its got a kevlar disc that tends to glaze INCREDIBLY easily. Stick with the OEM SVT clutch, or Spec stage 1 for anything less than a planned 220/240Whp, or so.

1)PCM- had a Bad one in my 2000 F 150. Did the same thing. They could never find out what caused it. They replaced the computer and BOOM problem Solved.
2)Broken Spring. Its common. Ive got 2 broken ones on my car right now. (working on replacing them)
3)Not Sure, maybe Tranny???
4)Replace the Bulbs... $12-15 for replacment halogens @ Wal Mart.

Mine had 146k on it when the Tranny went boom. There is still alot of life left in it... :)

The clutch noise could also possibly be a pulley spinning from the sound of it, it's definitely something turning, and it increases when i hit the gas. Sound pretty much stops or gets very quiet as the idle goes back to normal
