Biggest HP/TQ gain besides headers?

I've installed MSDS headers on my csvt, I'm looking for the next biggest bolt on gain available. That is besides a swap or turbo. What parts would be best?

The rest of the exhaust system. The y pipe and the resonator should be upgraded. A different air intake solution usually helps.

he has the k&n, optimized y, and soon a rez, i'm going to be running the same setup shortly so this question would apply to me too

I would say 3.0L but I am guessing that isn't what you had in mind. Y-pipe is an extreamly good one since you have done headers, that and it is fairly cheap to get optimized.

Yeah - it is hard to tell without info in your sig. I'd say N2O - I've got a buddy with N20 on his CSVT and it seems to like it alot. You can have a decent setup in the $500+ range - I can't wait to put N2O on my 3L...

The original poster was asking how to get the most HP per dollar, getting it to the ground is another story. The stock clutch should be good for a very small shot. Regardless of how small of a nitrous shot you go, it is still one of the cheapest hp/$ mods.

I have a related question....since the MSDS headers have been mentioned.

The CSVT stock headers have the cats right... Austin, TX now has Emissions testing as part of the state Safety inspection that is required every year. As I understand it, the standards are very similar to what CA goes by.

What upgrades can I do that wouldn't anger the hippies when they sniff my pipes in July??

headers dont have cats... the headers are they're own part as is the resonator, the catalitic converter is something you should screw with if you have hardcore emission issues. i dont know if they use a sniffer out there but any upgrade that allows more flow through the exhaust may give you a problem. thats something you might have to deal with at your local exhaust shop. or move to new york where no one cares.

The SVT has manifolds with precats leading into the y pipe which then connects to the main cat. Headers replace everything before the y pipe, so you would be removing the precats. Many on here have said that they have passed the sniffer test without the precats, as they mostly work while the car is cold and once warmed up the main cat work well enough. That doesn't mean its legal to remove them though. If they do a visual inspection you might be up the creek. This is why I haven't gone to headers yet.

If you're only subject to a butt sniffer test like we had in Florida, you will only need to get MIL eliminators with the headers & you should be fine. The main cat seems to be plenty for passing such testing.

On the other hand, if you are subject to a visual verification, not having pre-cats MIGHT be a problem. Many states only look for the main cat & call it good - in which case you'd still be fine. Find out how detailed the hippie inspection will be and you'll know if headers will be an option.

i suggest a tune. throttle respone, smoothness, and power are greatly increased, also with the extreme richness i found with my car, better gas mileage is a relative friend of efficiency :)

What nitrous kits are the easiest set-up on our cars. I'd want to go with a we kit, and wouldn't need more than a 75 shot. I want the kind of kit that activates the nitrous with a WOT switch, not the button type.

would I need kit 82021? There is no zex specific kit for contours, but I know some nitrous companies have kits for contours but the ones that do are for 99+ contours so I'm not sure which kit would be a direct fit.

you dont need to buy a car specific kit. If you have a return fuel system you can do a dry or wet kit, and if you have a returnless fuel system you can only get a wet kit.

I have a Nitrous tuned Diablochip for sale. It has a tune for both NA driving and a Nitrous tune. My car made 17 more torque and 9 more HP with just the Chip NA at the wheels. On the spray with a 75 shot i made 90 more wheel torque and about 60 wheel Horsepower.

PM for details.
