So my car is on ebay again and I get this public message...

"DUDE why the he-- did you do all of that work on a LOW mileage SVT? I hate to be the one to tell you so but, you should have just done a few mods and left everything else alone. You actually lowered the value of your ONE OWNER SVT by doing all that work to it! You KIDS will never learn to leave well enough alone! Sorry for the slam session, I just think you are a dumm a-- for what you did to your LOW MILEAGE SVT. later hater."

I respond publicly as follows:

Holy Crap! Im sorry for everything. It started out slow, just a suspension mod here and there. Then the 2.5 liter engine blew while rounding a right hand bend. I read up on the internet that others had the same problem with their 2.5 so I decided I didnt want to get a junkyard engine and have the same thing. So I decided to upgrade to the 3.0 liter. Then everyone said, hey, if you put in a 3 liter than you better upgrade the tranny. Its a disease. Im sorry for having it.

I thought I was being as polite as possible given that the guy was insulting me and even a little humorous. So I get a private email from him...

"BUT it is a 50,000 mile car... did you get a lemon or something? One day you will look back and say " what the hell was I thinking about by wasting so much money on a car that I will not have for more than just a few years"?! You must be under the age of 20, and/or still live with mom and dad. If you like to throw money away so much, mail me some and I'll use it for my NEW HOME I just got! halla!! "

His email address is Jaw74@aol.com. His ebay id is ktw98. Does anyone know who this is???

The guy has no idea what the hell he is saying.

The only SVTs that are going to hold any 'value' are the ones that have under 10k miles on it.

a Volkswagon "Thing" with 45K (low) miles on it in STOCK condition.
It must be worth a fortune, now.. huh?

:troutslap:

Id really like to know what kind of car he drives.
LOL! Yea no kidding. You shouldn't have responded at all. Although it would have made me upset, it's my car and i do what i want with it. If you did that all without your 2.5 blowing, then i would have maybe had the same argument, but it blew and i woulda done the same thing-put in a 3L and upgraded trans. Don't sweat this guy

according to that guys logic my truck must be worth millions or something. a stock 460 engine with only 17K miles on it, should try selling it to him for like $20K then

While I do agree with him in many ways...why in the hell is he sending you that garbage?!

Well, I could have kept the car stock but who on CEG can keep well enough alone? So I dont agree with him or maybe you too, that you should only modify high mileage cars. I dont know if I agree that mods detract from the value of a car, I learned the hard way that they sure as heck dont add any value but I dont think they should detract from it either if they are done correctly and tastefully. I dont think anyone can tell me that I went overboard with anything. The car looks pretty stock, that is why I chose 5 spoke wheels, to look similiar to the originals. Other than a lowering and a mild tint job on the windows, I didnt do anything else to the appearance that anyone could consider childish. Besides, I have most of the original parts (exception is the wheels, 2.5 liter engine) if someone wants to make it look new again.

Hey, one of my other vehicles is a 76 ford 4x4 van, it needs another engine, a 460 in fact. Maybe you can give me your engine from your truck and then you can keep your car in storage until it becomes a collector vehicle and goes way up in value. Then I will give your engine back and you can put it back in and noone will know. Great idea huh?

Well, if modding this car makes them worthless, Im in the market for Buckshots, Rays, Jeds (soon to be), Beyonds, and Stazis cause they are modded enough I could buy them for pennies!

I like the way you think. I mean who in their right mind would NOT want their car to perform better? I should never change the oil in a brand new car either...cause it wouldn't be 100 percent original and thus would lower the value.
