Anybody in MA wanna help 3L conv. this summer?

need a new motor so why not go 3L, anyways, im not really confident about doing it myself and i dont wanna take it a shop cause it will cost tons. so anyone in MA done a 3L or what? and would you want to lend a hand sometime this summer?
 
yes, when i bought it, Bob Randall told me he had just changed the oil so i didnt think to check it, anyways, little over a month later, its 2.5qts low.... and pinging and the oil is completely black. so perhaps i misunderstood mr. randall....

it is my own fault though for not checking the oil.... stupid...

Did you add oil or do an oil change and see how it runs? How long did you drive around with it knocking like that? Did the oil light ever come on?
 
what does the oil look like.....there was a light on the dash that came on 2 days ago, it looked like a container with a fan in it, i figure it was low washer fluid or something stupid, and i dont have a manual so i couldnt check it, definetly should have brought this up on the forum.

it started knocking yesterday morning and i drove right to jiffy lube, thinking id change the oil but by the time i got there i figured it was pointless and i didnt have the money anyways so i just added 2.5 qts of mobil 1.
 
after it starts knocking is there any way to save the engine? i dont think there is, and i havent driven it since.

anybody?

you didnt have money for an oil change that may solve the problem but yet you want to do a 3L instead? I dont get this, is it just me? :shrug:
 
your car will make knocking sounds also if your clutch is going, as it was the case on mine a while back

The clutch is def on its way out. The car has 97k on it and it's the stock clutch. I've never heard of the knocking sound from a clutch that is going, but if it happened to you then I believe it.

Also, I changed the oil shortly before I sold the car and I filled it with 6 qts of Mobil 1. I know it's not the recommended 6.5, but its more than the Ford spec 5.8. Either way, it shouldn't be 2 qts low. And it didn't appear to have an oil leak so unless it was burning it... but that would be a lot of oil to burn in a short period of time. You would think you would notice something like that.
 
clutch could definetly be going it catches extremely high, when i release it and it catches i say to myself "ok the clutch is catching so realease it all the way", but i start to release it and my foot is already off of the pedal.
 
when you start the car, do you hear a crunchy noise and some knock upon the car turning over? if so, its you clutch
