$1003.88:shrug:

Front Bumper Cover
Grille Piece
Mirko
Hood

Hood/Grille/Bumper are loaded with rock chips. Mirko has a tiny chip that will be repaired.

Everything will be repaired and refinished.. plus the paint will be blended into the front fenders.

Fair?

my bumper cost me 500 for paint and repairing, my mirko 100 for paint, no repair, and hood was 150, and grill shouldnt be much...so its a little high...

but thats here in florida

Indeed -- I'd call that quote some $200 - $300 too lofty. However, it totally depends on what options are available in your area. Sometimes, you can find that rare combination of excellent work and very fair pricing. However, its generally better to pay a little more to get quality work than skimp and get slipshod work. So if paying $800 where you are is a recipe for orange peel and drips, pay the grand and have it done right.

Thanks guys I'll keep shopping around. ;) This is the first place I checked since I heard plenty of recommendations for it

I just calculated everything out and it would be $750 w/o repairs.

Not sure how hard fiberglass work is.. but I have a very minor chip in my mirko that's supposedly costing me about $60 of work if I make them do it.

There's no way I can avoid the repairs on the bumper/hood/grille though. I have excessive rock chipping that goes past the primer. Don't ask me what trucks I was following

Do you think you would notice if they did not blend the hood into the side fenders? That's another $56 right there.

I would not skip the blending. Vertical and horizontal panels do not always wear / fade evenly, and brand new paint will often look a bit different than the adjacent areas. For what its worth, I have a guy up here in Mass that would do the work you're talking about for somewhere around a nickel. He does high quality work too, having been in the business for decades. His combination of quality, price, and value is not indicative of the market at large, in my estimation. As such, I don't think the quote you're getting is a bad one, but I would shop around a little bit to try and strike a better balance -- you don't want to have to start deleting necessary steps in order to make the paint job fit your wallet.

it sounds about right. if the chips are down to bare metal you want the shop to sant it down all the way or at least feather out the chips. i know of some shops that take a skim coat of putty and a drag a razor blade over it to take off the extras so just enough is on there and then prime over it. most dealerships do this and you cant tell the difference until a spot gets hit with another rock. then it will just break right off and the chip will be there again. pay the 1000 and get it done right. ask if they are going to sand the chips out if not dont let them do it.

From what I've seen on friend's cars...paint is something you don't want to skimp on...it's one of those 'you get what you pay' for deals. My dad had his truck done at Maaco a few years back (didn't know about them at the time, big mistake) for around $900. One of my friends had his Sonoma done at a reputable shop, cost around $3000. I'm sure you can guess which one looked better. Just providing an example.

berk is that whut u got quoted at New Direction???
Yup. He said he took 5% off for the tuner crowd as well. Shop looks real reputable as well and he said he could have the car back in 2-3 days. Thing is, $1000 is almost all I have left, so I need a summer job pronto

I do body work and just repainted my front bumper and the paint is where all the money goes T-red has so much peral its not even funny so yeah I think its not a bad price

Bring it up to westland michigan i'll hook you up a grand is a bit pricy, I warrenty all work for life, give you 15% discount for being ceg, and my ballpark figure on booktime hours would be about, 250 for bumper+mirko, 150 for hood, 40 for the grille, and 40 per blend, thats only guessing the hours i'd pay my painter but it would be roughly 500-600, i'm not promising but if your interested i'll write an estimate n fax it to you i just need your vin# for my system, but i guarantee you wont find anywhere to do it for less than me, and it will be perfect color match w/ blends and lifetime warrenty on paper :D
