Question about rod bearings??

The rod bearings are a weak link in this engine and upgrading them to Clevite 77 bearings is highly recommended whenever you have the engine apart, especially if you are doing any mods.

And to build upon the previous post.

They are CHEAP insurance. If you are that deep into a project like this already its very simple to do this. Now, I am assuming that you are competant around this type of job and have the the proper tools. (torque wrench). That combined with a Haynes Manual or Ford Service CD and you should be golden. Even better if you have someone else who has done it even once just to make it faster and to instill confidence.

Ditto x 3

The stock rod bearings are the weak link of the engine setup.

Clevites are good to 7500+ without issues.

Stock hate passing 6500rpm.

Ditto again. I see it more as of a 'why not' kind of thing.
The motor is out, easy to get to, why not replace them now instead of causing troubles/headaches later.
