mesh problems

is there any how to or something on how to do the lower grille and the rear grilles in mesh???..i just did mine and they look like complete crap. can somebody please help me or give me some tips or something??
 
Lots of info left out.

1. What type of mesh? They all install a little different.
2. Why does it look like crap? What's wrong with it?
3. Post pics so we can see where the trouble is.
 
its gutte gaurd from home depot.. i have a few sheets. the size is 3ft by 6in.
it looks crappy beacuse its like bows in and out and the wire ties you can see. ill put some pics up tonight after i get off work.
 
Thats why after I had my GG, i got rid of it after about a month or so. It just looked stupid and cheap. Either buy or make your own real mesh kit.
 
i had some before my stazi gen 2 and it didn't look like crap. take your time. i will see if i still have my pics..

sorry for the size. but for gutter guard that looks real good the pics don't do it the best judgement.. i do loxe my gen to way better!!!

that's sexy, i'll definitely be doing that. do you guys know what kind of paint i could use to color the gutter guard? i wanna go red, since that's my theme color.
 
The only problem is that seam in the middle. Too bad they don't make home depot gutter gaurd in longer sizes.

Also, is your turn signal blocked off by that vinyl/paint? How are people slightly behind and to the side of you supposed to clearly see if you are changing lanes?
 
2 very good points. as far as the seam in the middle yes you could see it but only from up close. i made sure of that. also you could only see it from the side not straight on either. as far as my lights those are painted and as the turn signal yes you can see it from the side still. it is very bright with a clear bulb. i made sure before i painted it you could still see them good. i used ducktape to cover all the light and tried at nite before i painted.

IMO that looks like total crap. A bumper without mesh looks better. If your going to do a mesh kit yourself do not use two pieces and have them meet in the middle, it looks cheap. Go to the ford dealer and buy svt mesh for 70 bucks.
 
it lookd alot better when it was painted black. there have been a few who saw it it person and it looked good. and i think the stock mesh is gay looking.
i have never liked that. and as far as those pics they are old! i no longer have that mesh any how so i could care less what people say. i am now rocking gen 2 all the way around. :)

again, i would still like to know what you guys would paint the mesh with? silver like that just won't work on my car.

i originally had gutter guard before i got elky and had no seam. lowes sells 8 or 9 foot pieces of it. you should try there rather than home depot
 
i didn't buy mine at either place i took right from the gutter at my parents house.. as far as paint when i did the silver it was silver frost from walmart.. again i used rattle can paint for this. also i used gloss balck when i did it black, then clear to make it not chip easy..

lmao, your parents must have some bigass gutters that are getting overloaded with leaves now! thanks for the tip on the paint though.
 
I'm thinking about painting my mesh. I was thinking adding a top coat of clear would help with chipping but really how bad does it chip/how often does it need re-painted?

My mesh right now is too close to the SF color so I need to break up the color w/ something a couple shades darker.
 
damn, i got my grille off, but i guess i don't know my car well enough yet. the grille is really lame on mine (a pre-98), and this hardly seems doable. does anyone have any recommendations on how? i searched, but found nothing.
 
i think i may wind up fabricating something. i really want a mesh grill, but i just don't see the factory components allowing that to happen on my 97, so when i get some time, i'll work on something and post pics. unless, of course, anyone else has suggestions....
