Shelby GT500

Very nice.

And yeah, i like the guy that commented on the video that says he must have at least 20K into the car to run that. *rolls eyes*

I like how the rear end is raised up. I wish more new muscle cars would be like that! Nice times too!

That's from the slicks/skinnies combo he's running that gives it that stance.

And $20k?!?!? LOL!!! The opening credits show JLT Performance and SCT as their sponsors. I'm assuming by that, they have a CAI, pulley, and a tune(if SCT has already come out with the software for the GT500). 596/602 isn't very far fetched, since they're dynoing close to ~500/500 bone stock!

check out the feb 2007 issue of hot rod magazine...there's gonna be a 6 page article on it.

some dude on another forum actually posted this friday, saying he's friends with the owner.

If my memeory serves me correctly the car has:

Ported blower
pulley
cai
catback exhaust
tune
4.10 gears
multipoint rollbar
slicks/skinnies setup

I beleive they now have the stage 4 ported blower as the stage 1 netted in the mid 500's whp/wtq.....

There is no doubt that the car moves, but then again they're running at Atco which tends to be an extremely well hooking, fast running track. Bring them to Moroso down here in south Florida as I would like to see them run there, as it is a notoriously slow track!

moroso is crud, bithlo in orlando aint much better. I'm still waiting till i have time and the car ready to take it to bradenton.

BTW, How's the Vette, Alan?

It's doing fine....you know how it is...they start to feel slow after awhile..I'll be doing some engine mods soon, ie: more compression, different heads, EWP ported Fast, etc....It "should" be a lil' quicker, and then I'll finally spray it!

I'm glad to see you got the car running, now just slap on a GT35R will ya...

Take care

Nice, fast car. However, I have a few gripes, so here goes.

1. Mustang never was, and never will be a true muscle car.
2. The rear end isn't that jacked up on a street-bound car with normal wheels/tires.
3. That car sucks at doing burnouts.
4. That engine sounds very "European" which is to say, exotic, but not very powerful sounding, like a Lamborghini.
6. The driver has a terrible reaction time and would lose a heads-up race with an equal opponent.

Other than that, sweet video, and nice car.

1. And what, pray tell, is your definition of a 'Muscle Car.' Technically when it was first released it started a new breed of 'pony cars,' but after a few years the Mustangs more closely resembled a true muscle car. Wikipedia is split on the issue, but the article on muscle cars does define the new Mustangs as muscle cars.

2. Someone else already addressed this

3. What's your definition of a good burnout? That which is required to heat the tires in preparation for a drag strip run, or something else?

4. You're saying Lamborghinis don't sound powerful?

5. haha

6. You actually have no idea whether he was going by the lights at all, so you can't judge his reaction time at all.

Okay, so I see your definition of a muscle car from another thread:
"Intermediate coupe with a mundane exterior + very powerful engine= muscle car"
First off, let's see some consensus on that belief. Prove that there's a reputable source out there that holds that belief also.
You seemed to indicate that you believe the new GTO is a muscle car. The Mustang is comparable in size, so I would say it's also an intermediate coupe. And I would bet the average car enthusiast would rate the GT500's engine, even in stock form, at a "very powerful."
So all that leaves is 'mundane looks.' Want to know the problem with that? Looks are subjective. Some people love the Mustang's looks, and some people hate them. Some would file them under 'wild,' some under 'mundane.'
You said not only has the Mustang never been a muscle car, but that it will never will be. That statement shows that you're either biased or jealous, but probably both. Get over it.

Pony car doesn't equal muscle car. In fact, most people in the business will tell you neither the Camaro nor the Mustang were true muscle cars. The reason why Mustang doesn't count is simple.

The Mustang is a compact coupe that is built on it's own assembly line. The car shares very little with other Fomoco products, and most assuredly isn't based upon a more mundane passenger car. Now the aussie Ford Falcon IS a muscle car. Also a muscle car is defined as having the most powerful engine available in that particular body style, not EVERY engine available in that body style. What I'm saying is that if the GT500 was the only Mustang, and that Mustang was based off of oh, say the Ford Fusion, it would be a muscle car. As it stands, it is not.

The GTO is a muscle car because it is based off of the Holden Monaro. Since we only get the GTO with ONLY the largest engine available, and it just so happens to be an intermediate coupe, the car is a muscle car. PERIOD.

The Mustang is a Pony car. I'll say that again. THE MUSTANG IS A PONY CAR. Being a pony car doesn't mean the car isn't powerful, just that it isn't all that "muscular" due to the fact that so many girls drive base models around all day long, and the GT isn't exactly brawny enough to even BE a muscle car.

I'm biased, but I'm also capable of the truth. Guess what? The Challenger will be a muscle car if no V6 is offered. Camaro will never be a muscle car, on the other hand. So it's not like I'm that biased bro. I'm telling you that my beloved Camaro isn't a true muscle car.

And I hate to say it, but if you think that the Mustang could possibly be construed as 'mundane', you might wanna get your head checked.

You really wanna see a good burnout? Check this out...Click here to see Video

Way to go and ruin a good thread about a freshly released car that is doing decent runs at a track. They put for some effort and some time to get a decent looking car into the 10's with fairly little difficulty or money.

BTW, any car gets jacked up in the rear when on slicks or set up for drag racing, it to get the weight transfer to put the power down.

Everybody is entitled to their own opinion. But dont argue about it. Arguing on the internet is like competing in the special olympics, even if you win, you're still retarted!

So move on!
