I replaced my right rear brake line and hose in my 98 svt. Where the metal line meets the brake hose near the right rear strut there is a metal cylinder between the two. I believe it is some type of a one way valve for the brake fluid. The trouble starts when i try to press down on the brake pedal to bleed it, fluid will flow everywhere except into that cylinder and into the caliper. The bleeder screw on the caliper is completely removed. I can take the cylinder off and i can get flow from the metal line. I looked on my 99 svt and it has no such device.

Any ideas?, i have the camera charging right now if someone needs a visual reference.

best i can do for now

sorry about the drawing... i replaced the metal line from the master cylinder to the rear of the car. The Unknown metal cylinder goes inbetween the metal brake line and the rubber brake hose. The rubber brake hose is new aswell. Fluid will flow all the way to the unknown metal cylinder, then it wont go any further.
Ill post pics tomorrow

It is a pressure reducer valve. It helps balance braking between the front and rear brakes. Later years don't use them if the car is equipped with ABS. The later years use Electronic Brake Force Distribution in which the braking front to rear balance is controlled electronically.

Most Contiques use the pressure reducing valve. If you try to eliminate it, you could find yourself flipped around and going backward at a high rate of speed. ABS equipped cars use a different part number than the non ABS cars.

Stubborn pieces like this sometimes respond to pressure bleeding, vacuum bleeding, and sometimes when all else fails, gravity bleeding.
