Does anybody know if you put in an aftermarket alarm, do you need to bypass the factory PAT's key system?

I'm just wondering because I see the factory Protects the car and NOT THE CONTENTS of the car. (F***ing 16 year olds running away with my faceplate, ipod and wheel socket) Basically what I want is the PAT's Active along with the aftermarket to protect the interior and the car itself.

Pats has nothing to do with the alarm. Only if you want to remote start it!

That's what I thought, Anyways the guy quotes $550 installed for a starter/alarm with door control. I was just curious about the PAT's thing. That's not a bad price considering it's a manual trans.

I would have gone lo-jack, but I see they only work in the states. so I went with compustar.

PATS system Contours don't need a lojack. They are basicly undefeatable and unstealable. your car does not have one (4 cyl) but every Duratec after 97 does. Either way, the contour is a very undesireable vehicle to steal unless you leave it on a corner with the doors open and running in Detroit your pretty safe.

Well, I'm actually not worried about the car itself. The car protects itself perfectly. I'm worried more about the contents of what are IN the car. Plus its also nice to start the car from the house instead of from the -40*C (-40*F ) weather that we Calgarians usually get at least for one week of the year.

I understand protecting the contents. I was talking about spending the extra $$ on a LoJack.
