Ok I probably should know this but I dont. I have Weapon R headers. If memory serves me correct the 98 SVT has a 2 bolt flange and the 98.5+ has a 3 bolt. So the Weapon R will bolt up to the 98.5 and up but not the 98 right? Also if the above is true should I buy this? And what is the benefit of this downpipe over just welding in a high flow cat?

You don't need all of that. Are you running the WR y-pipe as well or just the headers?

Your statement about the headers is sort of correct. The WR headers will bolt up to any year, the difference is that if you have a 98 with a 2 bolt flange you won't be able to use the WR y-pipe that comes with the headers as it uses a 3 bolt. So in order to use it you would have to buy a 3 bolt flex pipe and a 3 bolt cat.

If I were you all I would buy is their high flow cat pipe from their website. The stock SVT y-pipe flows just fine, you can optimize it for better flow and it will out perform or be equal to what you are looking at buying in that auction.

Just double checked my car... With that Y pipe setup from Ebay, you'll be able to fit the WR headers to any Contour. That assembly replaces the stock cat, Y, and flex to hook up to the 2 bolt flange common on all our cars.

The problem people had was the two or three bold flange at the back of the Y that hooked up to the flex pipe or cat. Since that thing replaces those parts, the problem is moot. To verify, check just in front of your stock resonator. First flange you find should be a 2 bolt unit. If so, you're good.

Jim's got it right. All v6 Contours use the same 2-bolt flange after the cat to connect to the rest of the exhaust. That WR y-pipe will work even with stock exhaust manifolds and any other exhaust you want.
