I'll take some more this morning when the sun comes out. They are Flat black. When they aren't in the light you can bairly see them, however, when the sun hits them, they take on a Dark Shadow grey color.

cool...i guess.

I guess these could be considered "ghost stripes." Not my cup of tea, but at least theyll be easy to remove if you dont like them.

Looks much better in the sun... I dont like them much.... But what I do like is that they are stealthy looking, I always like things that blend in with the car......

Your opinion...but it was nonethe less a bad-azz factory example of non-rice fender stripes. Heck, it launched before the term rice had even been tossed around much.

um ive owned several vettes and my dad is a vette collector

it looks like crap:laugh:

They look pretty good.

Kind of like one of Ford Racing's Mustangs. Same idea, black stripes on a black car.

I'm sure Bagged or someone else will chime in, but the red stripes on Corvettes was something to do with the admiral blue color. I could be wrong.

I think the term ghost stripes suits them well. I like them. Gives it something of a "frosted glass" look.

I think it looks even better on the Mustang, but those are different stripes.

i dont remember what the exact meaning behind it was but i know you can get them on the zo6 07 ron fellows edition in red also
im just not a fan of them ive seen them on many different style cars they look out of place
but i guess if you like em the black ones are the way to go cause they dont stand out that much

I know they are called hash marks...one of my favorite vettes. I would call them rice on a contour for copying. They have something to do w/ racing, I can't remember. Perhaps like notches on the bedpost:shrug:

I s'pose I would liken it to applying NISMO stripes to a contour...just doesn't belong

this may have been a better choice to copy (racy!):

edit: It's blue paint, white stripe and red hash marks are paying tribute to the five original Grand Sport racing cars built in secret by Zora Arkus Duntov in 1963

Ah... so.... why on the Vette then? Didn't Roger have these, too?

I should have said, I LOVE the matte on gloss look. They're very well done.

The whole reason I did it was to be different. Other then the two Corvette Grand Sports in town, there is only one other vehicle I have seen them on, and he is a member here, except his are in red (silver car) and he has them on both sides. It's the only contour I have seen them on. As for the color I picked; I picked it because again, I wanted to be different. Most people do asthetic (sp) mods to stand out "look what I've done", "bling" if you will. I picked black on black so it doesn't jump out, hell, most of the people I have asked haven't noticed the stripes until I mention them, there that "stealthy".

Also, the reason I picked those stripes is because I am going with a "race" look, not a "bling" or "rice" look. The hash marks, in my opinion, will look 10x better when I get my wheels, and tint my windows.

Hector had them on his 'tour too...I don't know if I can find a pic

nope, his links are dead. But I also found out "They are called pit stripes - so that (as all cars were painted the same on one team) the different pit crews knew which car it was by the color of the stripes. that is why they are also only on the drivers side"

They do look good, I'm not crazy about the idea...they're painted on aren't they?
