just smoked a radiator fan. what options for replacement?

can i use any contour fan for a replacement?

its a 98 SVT and im pretty sure the high speed fan chernobyl'd on me.
 
I imagine any 2.5 fan would work, I don't think there is a difference. Try a junkyard, or maybe the classified forum. People are always parting out these cars. That would be your cheapest bet. BTW, how did you kill a fan, I've never heard of that happening. :shrug:
 
haha i dont know just how i managed to burn up a fan, but it surely is toast. made a nice smoke show under the hood. if i unplug the one fan, will the other one carry the load for a little bit? i need to pay some bills and i dont have the cash to fix it this week.
 
not sure but you maybe ok for awhile with one fan ... not sure if it applied to 98s but the pre98 had a resistor installed because the fan bearings where tight and a few seized up and caught fire. the resistor was to prevent a fire. so that maybe what happened here.

I do have a spare set of fans. let me see if i really need to keep them and if not I could sell them to you ...
 
that would be awesome. i bet that my fans are fire prone ones. im going to go unhook the faulty one soon, and drive around locally to see if it gets too hot. if not ill drive it like that for a little bit. its not supposed to get too hot around here in the next few days so i may be good.

EDIT: i just went out and checked the fan and it is indeed seized. cant turn it a bit.
