I suspect it is bad news but here goes. It is a 1997 with the v6. Been blowing hoses lately. Heater will not blow warm air till guage goes into the red. Then hot air comes out and temp guage goes to normal. This repeats itself. I checked the thermostat and it opens and closes in boiling water like it should. I took the belt off the water pump and it spins like it should . I replaced the overflow tank cap . I wonder why the hoses will blow before the cap relases pressure. Like i said based upon what i have read here, i suspect the news isnt good.

im going to have to say... water pump, its probably in the process of failing.

His waterpump probably did this(see pic). I replaced it with a metal impeller Delco pump. Coolant blew out of the overflow and was pooled in the passenger side strut tower..Why car was very cheap, still runs well today:cool:
