has anyone used wix filters before? i have used them before and i just recently bought an air filter for my lightning. has anyone used them on their 'tour?
 
before i started doing my own oil changes, my mechanic used to use wix filters. I assumed they were the cheapest available and never used them again.
 
WIX is one of the best. Use them with confidence.

Purolator is the vendor that supplies most filters for Motorcraft in the US, and WIX supplies most Motorcraft filter in Canada.

Wix supplies filter to NAPA. NAPA Gold is equilivant to WIX. NAPA Silver is also supplied by NAPA, but is made to a lesser spec. WIX does not market the equilivant to NAPA Silver under their own label.
 
i used them for a long time with mobil one in the tour. seemed to work great. now i am using amzoil's filter since I switched over. WIX and motocraft seem to be the best ones to use for the tour....only reason why I am using amzoil is because it should last about 10K miles or so.
 
Hastings may have been years ago, but no more. They have been made with conventional paper media for many years.

From what I understand they are neither a great nor a bad filter.
 
WIX was the only filter I used on my Cuda back in the 60s and 70s. They had a racing model - I probably saw where all the Grand National race cars used them or something. I haven't seen them around these L.A. parts for some time. Glad they're still around somewhere.

Your right Big Jim. I used to use a lot of Motorcraft filters (I did not know they were made by purolator tho). I DID blow a Motorcraft filter apart on a STOCK 2.5L. And that ain't BS.

I was surprised to find out that NAPA brand was a wix filter. I had experemented with different filters looking for one that sealed the best (I have a leak between the oil filter and oil cooler). So I had bought a NAPA filter and was told by the NAPA guy that WIX made their filters.
