I just recently had the wheel bearing replaced on the front passenger side. Since then, anytime that I put the car in reverse and back out sharp to the left or right I get a grinding noise. I don't think that it is the brakes because it happens without any use of them. I am at a loss as to what could be causing the issue. Any suggestions?

Check that the hose/abs wires (for the brakes are in the correct position). If they did not replace those items in the correct "notches" (in the strut), it could be rubbing on the the wheel/tire.

CV joint.

why is it that everyone seems to jump to this ... if it was the cv joint it would start making the noise all of the time and not just in reverse.

in checking everything else make sure the axle nut it tight and that its torqued to 210 ft/lbs

I'd check the pie plate -- the dust shield behind the rotor. If it's bent, you'll get unsavory noises when you cut the wheel.
