I can't find the brake stuff now either Hmmmm?? I did find something in Ford DVD 2005-06 that has all models mayb I confused the newer PCM's that it shows the "B" and "C" codes that have ABS/etc and multiple controllers beside the engine controller. I think in the diesel it has a controller for all the other controllers.
I did upgrade the interface unit with Alex and he gave either $75 or $100 trade-in and sent one I can do most all vehicles and "Can" protocol that I needed so I could look at my son's 2005 E-350 work truck with 6.0 diesel and I remember once it connected besides the OBD II "p" codes it had categories in the enhanced mode for body controllers and transmission controller etc/etc. On Alexes site he does have free downloads for the latest added codes/features as new models come out.
Ie my brother got Canyon pick-up I added the particular updates for his model and once it connected to that GM pcm it then shows all thats available. I remember reading mileage in real time, that was interesting.
Sorry for getting carried away, but it was maybe 5-6 years CEG had a group buy from Alex and I got in on the one of them.
Yeah Phil I won't be putting any shop out business but for myself and family I can at least have some idea whats going on or especially having the ability verify if the garage is giving a line crap. If you know what I mean?
The hard part getting information Ie a little training, just to be able to understand what all you are able look at and what it means EH? You see that variable vane dual turbos on that 6.0 now that requires the mechanic in enter commands and then see how it responses with what or not. I this case the Ford laptop only and I believe that in the range of $12k of each plus the PDA unit for each also. The service manager showed a pile goodies Ford sent them for the this shop$50 thou and they can't refuse it. OUCH!
That is what nice about some of these vendors-AH rats-stupid boot sector problems, I hate when my PC crashes. I did fall in luv with a couple but I'm thinking it was in $1000 to $2500 dollar and one even offered subscription only busy shop could afford. It's like my other hobby Ham radio I have keeping reminding myself it's ONLY a hobby! This technology can bankrupt you fast!!! darn
My hero Leno an his steam cars and his dedicated, I'm sure well paid, steamer mechanic just watched on TLC last night. Ah fun to dream, take Phil.
