I took my car to a mechanic to deal with my new locking caliper and the pedal stopped pumping as the brakes stopped working all together. They said that I need to replace my hydraulic control unit. Does anybody know how much money it would cost to replace? They said they couldn't do it and that the ford dealer would have to do it.

year, model, abs or no?

You should be able to check the part price from the Team Ford site. There is a link on the opening page to links for parts and stuff, and a link to Bill Jenkins at Team Ford. The link takes you to an on-line catalog.

I went on the team ford website and searched for hydraulic control unit to no avail. Then I searhed through the brake categories and have no idea which one it is as it is not reffered to as 'hydraulic control unit'. Is it the master cylinder?

Right now I am waiting for anestimate from the ford dealer which I have no doubt to be around $2,000 for my $4,000 CSVT. Any input on wether or not I should have them fix it or what I should do would be appreciated. No funny comments like 'Hey, could could part it out and sell me your bumper'. How hard is it to replace the ABS module yourself anyway?
