Recommendations for spark plug wires?

I've found loads spark plug recommendations here, but I've seen very little about spark plug wires other than the occasional "I bought Brand X". Anybody have any personal preferences? Anything special I should watch out for?

Thanks,

Alan

Many of us here run differents setups. But the most commonplace tried and true would be the Magnecore or Taylor wires. Either of these will get you where you feel a difference in throttle response, MPG, and overall 'smoothness' of the rpm's. (that didn't really make sense did it???) Oh well!

Thanks. Barring additional input, I'll go with one of those.
More people on here use the Magnacores I believe, but I went with the taylors because a few people complained that the boots on the magnacores weren't fitting on the plugs right.

The MOST COMMON wires used on CEG are MOTORCRAFT replacements (a VERY VERY GOOD WIRE for the price, actually!)

If you feel the urge/need to upgrade, the second most common would be either Magnecores (more expensive, upper end performance) and Autolites.

Another brand that HAS been used, but I would avoid are the Ford Racing Plug wires. SOME say that they are fine.. others have crapped out in as little as 3-5K miles. They are "hit or miss" (pardon the overused spark plug pun). IF they work, they are fine wires at that point, it is just the gamble that they won't be "fine".

MY list of choices:
motorcraft, followed VERY CLOSELY by
Magnecores
Autolites/Taylor

Between the Mags and the OEM wires, it is a toss up to me (when weighing in price, performance, and longevity. BOTH are fine choices.

And a few years back Taylors were a problem with our engine. It seems like they had a batch that were built with ends that didn't fit the spark plug wells very well. You might say that they wern't "taylor made".

Anyway, they seem to be fine today.

Aren't OEM's $80 from Jenkins? Over $100 from a dealer. I have had the worst luck with OEM to be honest. Had even better luck with the Ford racing wires which ppl say are crappy. The Autolite is a nice looking wire. They even feel licke quality in your hands which surprised me. I had never seen them until I was forced into buying them when the uber pricey Magnecor's crapped out on me. Buy them and keep the receipt and if they go down then take them back to the parts place for a new set.

I'm very pleased with the performance of my Magnecor's. They fit well, and no troubles for over 10k miles. I know some people did have fitment issues, though. Just my .02

I guess you missed this post I just made it not to long ago and it's still on the first page over in the Duratec Performance forum...

I've had magnecore's for 4 years now and I have no complaints. They fit with the stock hardware just fine. I've gotten up to 34 mpg on the highway with all the mods in my sig, so I think they are doing pretty well. Can't go wrong with them in my opinion, its just a matter of whether or not you want to spend that much$$
