joining the club.......

yeah those superchargers are expensive though. cost is always an issue. i'm looking at this snowmobile jackshaft i have right now.......i could make a kit like the vortech only better (titanium ftw!) we'll see how this thing goes. couple more couplings and it'll be running (for at least a couple miles)

well i ran it for 8 miles but i forgot to tighten the tension wheel and i blew the belt off it! but the charger' still spins like a thousand bucks! i'll order another and get pics up when its back together

well i have the local autoparts store guy lookin for the belt. he doesnt have it in his books but he's calling powerdyne to see what the numbers are for the belt so he can order some. he might even see about getting one a little bit longer so i can actually use some of the adjustment so its not so tight all the time. hopefully he can order one today if he finds the numbers but eitherway it wont be here till tomorrow or monday....but i have to sit home all next week so at least i get the time to work on the car! :)

I thought the Rotrex wasn't considered because of the orientation of the pulley. It would require a jackshaft and placement similar to that of the Vortech.

Not to mention Wheel to Wheel were replacing theres at the track on there twin Rotrax Nova during pump gas drags. So not sure about relabilty. May mean nothing.

Koenigsegg uses them on the CCX & the CCR, and those engines had to go through 100,000k durability testing before they went into production.

well today i got 2 new belts in, but they are too short. the center to center on the teeth of the belt are the same distance, and the teeth are the same size. there are the same amount of teeth on the old belts and the new ones....but the old belt still manages to be an inch longer. it doesnt make any sense. either way, we're getting back to powerdyne to see if there's one with more teeth that's a bit longer. hopefully i can have it early next week, as it took 3 days last time to get these ones in. i'll keep you guys posted, today i washed the car im' gonna snap a few shots of the kit as it sits with no belt on it.....and half the piping gone :p

and its dirty, and the belt is blown, but once again

the FMIC isnt on until i get a boost reading without it. also i'm workin on more silicone because i have a couple rubber ones on there now.

well i've found the correct belts, a little longer than before but that's a good thing, because it was banjo tight at the loosest setting before. i'm going from 75 tooth to 80 tooth on the belt, so i can acutally get the blower on/off without removing the whole mount and wrestling with it. plus i can run the belt loose so it wont blow out! :D updates when they come in!

i'm working on the broken bumper. i have the belts, but its been -10 to -20 degrees here, no reason to put it on yet! i'll get pic updates when i do it.

OK i put the belt on, i couldnt wait any longer. no intercooler, but i have about 5ft of piping on it. i bought a nice autometer boost guage and hooked it all up to see where it's at. with the new belt i ran it 10 miles so far. runs great, but its only pushing 2 psi. i currently have the smallest pulley i can get on it, which i got from chris. i can step up the diameter around 1" by getting another stock power steering pulley, and hopefully bring the boost level up a little bit, or i can see how it works when i put the stock thomas knight piping on it (2" diameter vs. 2.5" and about 2ft less piping) or just shorten the piping on my setup by moving it out of the bumper and running it across the front of the engine (i'd have to get rid of the FMIC that way)

anyhow i will take pics of everything tomorrow. i still need a couple silicone couplings and i dont have the T bolt clamps yet, so i might be leaking boost somewhere.....so im not going to get bent out of shape about the boost levels just yet. i am considering possibly running the piping straight across the front of the engine and maybe buying methanol injection? i dunno yet. ive got work to do though, i still need to make a bezel of some sort for the boost guage, i have nowhere to put it. i was thinking of going to the scrapyard and taking the trim molding that covers the side view mirror screws on (the triangular piece) and molding that into a guage pod, and painting it up nice. we'll see.

yeah. live and learn. i was only getting 2psi out of it but i was having a blast with it :( i'm either going to build a turbo setup (not likely) or find a shaft drive vortech kit, or just put another nitrous kit on it and run a dual stage. this is lame.

That does suck man sorry to hear..Would have been fun 100shot and supercharged.I seen a SVT one cardomain with a votech and claiming 400hp..Not sure..Theres gotta be a reason as to why the bearings are going out..Somthing not balanced put together right??..

the bearings cant handle the torque pulling it sideways. it's a stupid design really. im bummed but oh well. i might take off the nitrous and just keep the contour a daily driver who knows. i'm just fed up right now, im gona quit working on the car for a couple weeks and decide what i want to do.
