NASA Event at Cal Speedway

That might be one of the coolest pictures of my car I have ever seen. Great slide show as well.

Thank you for coming out to support me today, I am sorry you did not get to see the car on track and I am also sorry I did not have much time to spend with you. I have some pretty cool pics that I will try to post, but I have never been able to do so before.

We ended up having to replace the brakes on the WRX so he could keep racing and we were still trying to fine tune the suspension for the track. Of course we nailed the suspension setup on the SVT on the second run and then had to retire the car.

If anyone is interested in a 1 Owner 3L SVT (with about 250 hours in the engine and over $7,000 in receipts - Oval Port, Bored, Stroked, Balanced and Blue Printed Hybrid with a dyno tuned 200whp, koni sport suspension, oil accumulator, Spec Stage 3 Clutch, Fidanza Flywheel, LSD, BAT Rear Sway Bar with upgraded subframe bracing and so many custom mods I cannot list them all) with what we think is a minor valve issue that needs to be resolved, I am willing to sell for the first $5,000 that comes knocking on my door so I can build a 2.3L Turbo Coupe Powered Seven Clone.

It was a issue of burning oil and power dropping, hoping its a valve or it could be a piston ring or piston it self. Im sure SVTRacer214 will dig it out and post it.

This the main reason you just don't do a engine swap (3L) without rebuilding it first. SVTRace knows that engine inside out, Between him and his brother they could tell you that they spent over 250 hours on it.

what are some possible causes for the valve noise? being raced? was that the reason for retiring the car?

The racing did not cause the problem it only brought an existing problem to light. Their is actually very little noise and I know it is not rod knock, I am very familiar with that sound.

It is blowing smoke so I decided to retire the car instead of running it and hurting it more.

It is definately not down on power. I had some of my fastest times of the day when I was blowing smoke (we had just figured out the suspension set up). I doubt it is a piston ring but we will know more once we tear it apart.

that is why when i put mine in i tore it down to every last bolt. i completely agree teardown is a must for a performance engine. that is what i was hoping for with mine. but now it makes noise and i cant figure where it is coming from. not a bad sound just a sound. no smoke nothing unusual just a noise at 1250RPM. i would love to have that car. it is beautiful.
