i've seen a lot of mixed reviews on a ton of pads. I think i might try the EBC series. What would be the general recommedation. EBC GREEN or RED

Had the greens on the front of my old (heavy) Saab 9000 Turbo. I liked them.
I still wish Hawk made the Blacks for the front of our cars. Currently the Tirerack only lists the rears. Those would be my choice.
I don't have any experience with the Hawk HPS.

I've used the Mitex steet pads (from BAT Inc.) on my CSVT and I like those too, even better than the EBC Greens IMO. If you're doing heavy track days I'd get something better though.
There's a tread already started a few months ago regarding track pads and I think it's a few pages down.

Found this on another forum (from Australia)

I have Hawk HPS pads on the front and rear as well as Brembo blank rotors all around on my 98 SVT. I've only put about 100 miles on since I installed them so I don't have any feedback just yet. Bought all from TireRack.

I do have some sort of high pitched vibration that is only audible and is coming from the front every once in a while when I go to accelerate. If I tap the brakes the sound stops. So I think I may take the front brake back apart and make sure I have everything well greased. Probably do that when I put the car up to replace a bushing in the rear suspension within a couple weeks.

thanks for the help guys i've changed my mind on the EBC's and am going to try hawk. Does anyone know the front pad part # for a 98 SVT. i dont see any web sites listing it.

First you need to make sure which style front calipers/pads you have.

If you aren't sure, you can print page 2 of this PDF

and take it out to your car to compare and make sure which brakes you have.

As long as you have the same calipers/pads as the standard V6 Contour does you can get the Hawk HPS pads in the front. Here is the page on TireRack with the front and rear part numbers.

For whatever reason they don't have them listed for the SVT but I figured as long as my brakes were the standard size that these would work and they in fact did.
